Basic Router Configurations.

FLASH
=> It is similar to the hard disk of your computer it is EEPROM.(Electrical Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory)
=> It contains the copy of IOS (Internetworking Operating System),IOS files or images the operating system files,erasable reprogrammable ROM,and it holds the operating system image,retains content when router is powered down or restarted,it can store multiple versions of IOS software,it is a electronically erasable programmable ROM

RAM
=> Random Access Memory
=> It is volatile Memory
=> In case of any sudden power failure all the changes made but not saved get lost.
=> It contains the running configuration file.
  it stores routing tables,also called dynamic ram,it holds ARP cache,it stores running IOS configurations,RAM is a volatile memory and loses content when router is powered down or restarted.
